Kari,

You are indeed in a unique position as a woman in ministry. Your situation is more unique than for a single male pastor of which I was one for many years. I felt for years I would be single forever because women didn't get it, they didn't understand the life or the expectations, fair or not, and I could write a book about it, especially as it pertains to "the one" who turned out not to be the one. If I've learned anything in my 17 years of ministry it's this. Always allow God to write your love story. I wanted to be in a beautiful, wonderful, romantic relationship more than almost anything and it came to the point where I told God I would give up that dream to serve Him. It was when I was focused 100% on God and ministry and not even thinking about romance that God put the person in my life who would become my wife. When I interview with Churches I gently and lovingly tell them it's not a package deal, they are calling me, not my spouse. Most respect that. I was 29 before I got married and had already been in ministry for 10 years at that point. Our hearts and feelings may betray us, but until God places that person firmly in your life, I pray that He will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
