How to Keep Your Sweaters Looking Like New

I like to save money.  I think if you've been reading my blog for any length of time (or you know me personally), you will know this about me.  I feel successful when I get a good deal.  So I treat shopping for clothing about the same.  I love the clearance racks and I never pay full price for an outfit.  Along with that, though, I also tend to keep clothes for a long time.  I don't keep them and let them sit in my closet, though.  I actually wear them.  So, it's important to me to keep them looking nice so they last me awhile.  Thus, I want to introduce you to the art of sweater shaving!

If you've never heard of it or done it before, You really don't know what you're missing.  This will your clothes (specifically your sweaters) a new lease on life!

What you'll need:
*Razor
*Lint roller
*Electric Fabric Defuzzer

Step 1:
Gently drag the razor over the fabric.  Be careful not to be too rough or use too much pressure so as not to tear a hole in the fabric.  You should see a layer of lint or fuzz shave off as you do this.

Step 2:
Use lint roller over the fabric to pick up the loose fuzz left on the sweater after shaving.

Step 3:
Use the electric fabric defuzzer to run over the sweater and pick up any stragglers.  I feel like using both the shaver and defuzzer brings about the best outcome than just using one or the other.  Make sure the defuzzer has new batteries.  You'll be pretty pleased when you open up the lint department to find what just came off your sweater.

And that's it!  Your sweater will look brand new and feel extra soft.  Can you tell which side of this sweater has been treated with this method and which hasn't?

Too bad you can't feel it, too!  There's quite a difference in how they feel!  Have you ever used this trick before??

    1. You bet! I notice a change right after the first wash and it's always kind of a letdown. However, this really changed the life of my wardrobe!
